I begin this post with a "thank you" to all those who have supported, encouraged, loved and prayed for me and my ministry of spreading the Gospel to reach the lost and to encourage and challenge Christian women to live Biblically. When I first began this blog I had no clue what I was getting myself into. All I knew is that I wanted to have an avenue to reach other Christian women, wives and mothers and encourage them in the Lord while challenging them and myself to live a life based on Biblical principles. I am finding that this task is filled with much discouragement. I have learned over the past 3 years that anything that is done to proclaim the name of Jesus as Lord and to expose the enemy's lies will most definitely tick Satan off. Any ministry done in the name of Jesus will be attacked by Satan in an effort to destroy not only the ministry but the people behind the ministry. Before my radical and miraculous conversion I led a life ridden with compromise and a lack of understanding of Christian doctrine. This I blame on the lack of a spiritual father as the head of my family. I did not have a male father figure over me who taught me the word of God. This is so typical of the families in our society today. There are far too many young people who have no clue as to why Christianity is the "One True Faith". There are far too many young people who have no clue why Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. There are far too many young people who believe they can say the "sinner's prayer" and then walk out of the church and live a lifestyle opposite of what God commands of a confessing believer. The other sad issue is that, there are FAR too many OLD people who don't know these things either. There are also far too many "Christians" who are not even interested in learning the basics of Christian Theology. There are far too many "Christians" who don't feel it is there "calling" to spread the Gospel at every chance they get. They really believe they can just say they are a Christian and never actually open their mouth and proclaim Jesus as Lord. This infuriates me as these are the "Christians" the world measures real believers by. Jesus Christ is NOT a "get out of hell free card". If one takes this position on Christ's sacrifice, they really should check their spiritual pulse to see if they are truly in the faith. If you are not being persecuted for Christ's sake then maybe you should figure out who you are catering to? Are you serving the Lord with total abandon? Or are you merely one of those "Christians" who just wants to "talk the talk, but not walk the walk"? Why is Christianity the One True Faith? What does it mean to be a Christian? What does it mean to be saved? How is a Christian to live their lives? These are BASIC questions that Christians should know the BIBLICAL answers to. However, sadly, many "Christians" haven't got a clue and when challenged they get all offended and resort to appealing to their feelings. They also use scripture out of context. For example: "You can't judge me. The Bible says we are not to judge people." Huh? Where did Jesus say that? In fact the scriptures actually demand that we "judge" everything. We are to judge everything rightly and by the standards that Christ has set forth in the scriptures. God gave us a wonderful "handbook" to teach us of about WHO HE IS, WHAT HE EXPECTS of us who CLAIM to believe in Him for the forgiveness of our sins, and how to carry out His will in order to bring glory to HIM. However, there are FAR too many "Christians" who don't even read their Bibles! This is the reason for using scripture out of context. They don't study! When we are in school what are we encouraged to do in order to learn what we are being taught? STUDY! Why is it that there are "Christians" who don't apply this to their Christian Faith? Merely going to church every Sunday or on holidays does not make you a Christian. There is more to being a Christian than your church attendance or how much you tithe. I am not saying that "works" are what saves a person. What I am saying is what James says "I will show you my faith by my works." James 2:18. Part of these "works" is actually giving voice to your faith in Christ while actively LIVING out Biblical principles. This means NOT compromising on what is BIBLICALLY right for what is right in the eyes of an unbelieving world, or what allows you to live a comfortable life without being challenged in your faith. As a person who has given into compromise in the past and has seen the consequences of this, I CANNOT compromise my faith in Christ for anyone. In the past few years this has caused much "drama" with people who are close to me. These people may think me "radical" or "crazy", but I have decided to get back to the basic fundamental truths within Christianity and LIVE by that. This means that in some cases people will be uncomfortable around me or just plan aggravated with me. In the words of Dr. Voddie Bauchman, "For those of you who know me, know that this concerns me greatly"…laugh laugh. (From Dr. Voddie Bauchman's Podcast on Biblical Headship) In all seriousness, I use this blog as an avenue to reach Christian women, both wives and mothers, who have a heart to serve the Lord no matter the cost and encourage them with God's Word. No one is perfect, but as Christians we are continually being perfected. My ultimate aim is to be conformed into the likeness of Christ, so that it is not me that people see but Christ Jesus in me. I end this post with a challenge to those complacent Christians, to get up off your behind and LIVE like Christ! For those who are continuing in the faith and are constantly being persecuted for Christ's sake I say: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." James 1: 2-5 Serving God and My Family, Crystal <>< (SAHM)

Incorporating Children into our Homemaking

Oh the joys of motherhood! Training a two year old can be a challenge. Sofia is constantly growing and learning. She is like a sponge, just soaking up anything she comes across. This can actually be a negative aspect of her growth. I have learned (not only in theory) that young children will pick up bad behaviors just as easy as they pick up good behaviors. This can be frustrating for any parent. Especially when the parents are working hard to instill Christian values in their children. The world around us seeks to destroy our little ones. Some may say this is an over exaggeration. The scripture is clear about the intentions of this world and Satan within the lives of Christians. While Sofia has yet to accept the Lord on her own, Malachi and I have and our lives revolve around Christ. With this being the nature of our lives, Satan is constantly seeking to divide and conquer. Satan will most definitely prey on the weak and vulnerable. Our children are weak and vulnerable to the ways of the world, and this is why God has placed parents to be in authority over them AND be their “teacher”.
Proverbs 22:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Crystal Paine over at Biblical Womanhood has been writing a series on “Successful Homemaking with Toddlers: It Is Possible”. I have been reading it and have found it to be a valuable resource. She gives great tips on how to include our little ones in everyday homemaking. Since I only have daughters (so far) this has helped me to take a more serious look at how to incorporate my daughters into the “Motherly and Wifely” parts of homemaking. I know how important it is that I teach them how to not only be a Godly woman, but a Godly wife and mother. My daughters will one day grow up to have families of their own, and it is very important that they learn the Biblical teachings of the roles they will play in their family’s lives when they are grown. If I fail them in this area, then they will surely be at a disadvantage.
I hope that you will take the time to check out the site I linked above.

Day 8 of our challenge
So how is everyone doing on the challenge to encourage and pray for their own husbands? I must say that last night I actually took the time to pray for Malachi out loud during our night time prayers. This is something that I really should do more often. Last night the Holy Spirit prompted me to pray for him. Malachi has one last phone interview tomorrow with this new company he is trying to get hired for an IT position. It would mean a steady salary and really good medical benefits. It would also mean he would work normal hours of Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm! He hasn't worked hours like that since we got married! We are of course continuing to pray the Lord's will in this situation. We will praise Him regardless!
30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
Day 8
How are you doing with the "30-Day Encouragement Challenge"? In case you've forgotten, here's the challenge:
You can't say anything negative about your husband . . . to your husband . . . or to anyone else, about your husband.
Say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband. . . to your husband . . . and to someone else, about your husband!
". . . but who can find a faithful man?" Prov. 20:6b
Faithfulness is a wonderful but rare quality today, especially in regard to marriage. Do you understand how important this quality is? Your challenge is to continue to root out all negative speaking, and plant seeds of encouragement instead. You may be amazed at what will grow.
Contemporary culture often entices men to be unfaithful to their wedding vows and spiritual commitments. Appreciate your husband's faithfulness—how he is loyal to you. Let him know that you are glad he has "stick-to-it-iveness" in your marriage.
Appreciate his faithfulness to God. (If you have an unfaithful husband, this is a difficult area for you. Pray, speak the truth in love, remain faithful yourself, and discover ways to encourage faithfulness in your mate. The Bible says that husbands may ". . . be won by the conduct of their wives" [1 Pet. 3:1]. You may also want to seek counsel from a mature, godly individual or couple.)
31 Days of Praying for Your Husband
Day 8
Pray that your husband will work hard to provide for your family, to the best of his ability. Pray that the character qualities necessary for a successful career and ministry will be a growing part of his character—persistence, decisiveness, strength, an analytical mind, organizational skills, positive relationships with people, determination, etc. (Rom. 12:11; 1 Cor. 15:58)

Completed Week ONE! (Day 7)
Good Morning Ladies!
Praise the Lord for a new day! Mondays are always a good day for me because Malachi has Sundays AND Mondays off of work. Today we will be taking a trip to see my mother and my two younger sisters. They only live an hour away from us, so not much of a trip. My mom hasn't seen Sofia since Christmas, so it will be nice for her to get to visit with Sofia.
How are you all doing on the Challenge? It is amazing to see just how yucky my heart is when I am in the throws of the week! It is easy to get distracted and fall back into a bad routine of nagging my husband or not praying for him like I should. It is also hard to admit my faults, especially to the WHOLE WORLD! However, I find the more honest I am with myself and with those that read this blog, the less control the enemy has over me! I think that may be another reason we are told to confess our sins. The enemy can no longer hold them over our heads in attempt to make us go through life feeling guilty and ashamed. So if you want to stick it to the enemy...confess your sins!
Today is day 7 of the challenge! A whole week has passed since we began. I do pray that you all are being encouraged and pruned through the process of putting our husband's first. (After the Lord of course)

30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
Day 7
"Do not overwork to be rich; because of your own understanding, cease!
. . . for riches certainly make themselves wings . . ." Prov. 23:4-5
"That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries." Proverbs 8:21
Money is the root of much marital discord. Ask yourself, "Am I being negative toward my husband in the area of finances?" Determine not to speak evil of your husband in this area. Discover ways to encourage and help him instead.
Does your husband handle finances wisely? Does he make good financial investments, based on biblical principles? Does he have a budget? Does he make wise decisions about purchases—checking many sources before he buys? Is he a good steward of his money before the Lord? Let him know how much you appreciate his strengths in financial matters.
If he is weak in this area, encourage any good decisions that he does make. Perhaps you can help him, if he's open to the idea, by organizing financial files or providing other practical assistance. Or, if he wants you to handle the finances, ask for his input before you make decisions that will affect him.
31 Days of Praying For Your Husband
Day 7
Pray that your husband will safeguard his heart against inappropriate relationships with the opposite sex. Pray that his heart will be pure and undivided in his commitment to you. (Prov. 6:23-24, 26; Rom. 13:14)

Days 4, 5 and 6 of the Challenge
Good Afternoon Ladies!
I must apologize for missing the last couple days of the Challenge. Thursday evening while helping out at our church I began to have some lower abdominal pain that got worse by Friday morning. My dear sweet husband stayed home from work yesterday and called the doctor. I was told to take some Tylenol and stay off my feet through the weekend. He said as long as I am not bleeding or having contractions then it may just be ligaments stretching that is causing the pain. So needless to say I was unable to blog until today. I have been taking it easy, and Sofia is behaving herself perfectly! She actually took a very good nap and it allowed me to nap as well.
Here is Day 4, 5 and 6 of the Challenge. I figured I would go ahead and add Sunday's as I may not have time to blog then either as we will be busy with church.
30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
Day 4
" . . . let him labor, working with his hands what is good . . . " Eph. 4:28
We are all accountable for the things we say, both negative and positive words. Have you embraced the challenge to speak only positive things to your husband and to others about him? Here's a suggestion that touches the core of your husband's world.
Some women take their husband's career for granted, and they show it in many ways. Do you "dump" on your husband at the end of the workday, or do you strengthen and encourage him with your words? A wise wife will make her husband feel that she values and appreciates his work. Let him know that you are glad he is a hard worker. Take opportunities to praise his diligence and resourcefulness to others.
If your husband is out of work, unable to work, or refuses to work, you'll need to be more creative. Praise him for a character quality that you see in him that would be a vital part of a successful career—such as persistence, decisiveness, strength, an analytical mind, organizational skills, good with people, good listener, determination, etc.
Day 5
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." Eph. 4:29
Another way to describe the positive side of this "30-Day Encouragement Challenge" is by using the word "edify," which means, "to build up." Negative comments only discourage and tear down. Positive comments encourage and build.
Do you edify your husband before others, adding to his value in their eyes? This is especially important to other family members.
Do you praise your husband to his relatives, and yours? Does your husband's mother know how much you love him? How about your dad? Perhaps you can drop a word of praise into a conversation or letter. Be creative in letting your relatives know that you respect your husband, love him, and support him - in spite of whatever flaws and weaknesses he may have.
Day 6
". . . whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Cor. 10:31b
Do you recognize and appreciate your husband's creativity? Or do you criticize and demean his efforts? Instead of negativity, determine to be positive. Perhaps you can help your husband see that his efforts are an opportunity to glorify God.
Is your husband the "creative" type? Does he have any artistic gifts? What is that special "knack" he has? Affirm him for his handiwork - a hobby, music, gardening, tinkering with cars, working with wood, etc. Remember: Even if he doesn't measure up to your standards, praise his efforts. If your budget allows, buy him a book or magazine that will continue to encourage his special skill or talent.
If you have a hard time finding his "creative side," understand that men's creativity sometimes is related to their work. Find something he does to make his job run more smoothly or something he does that adds value to his work . . . and let him know that you have noticed.
Make his day . . . Praise his accomplishments in public, while he is listening.
31 Days of Praying For Your Husband
Day 4
Pray that your husband will grow in leadership skills in your relationship—protecting and providing for you. Pray that he will lead you wisely and love you sacrificially, so that God will be glorified in your marriage. (Eph. 5:25-29; Col. 3:19)
Day 5
Pray that your husband will be faithful to his wedding vows. Pray that he will have a desire to cultivate your relationship as a sign of his loyalty and commitment to you, and as a picture of Christ’s love for the Church. (Prov. 20:6; Gen. 2:24)
Day 6
Pray that your husband will love righteousness and hate wickedness, especially the evils of the culture. Pray that he will recognize and avoid wickedness in his own life, and if necessary, take a clear, strong stand against evil. (Prov. 27:12; John 17:15; 1 Cor. 10:12-13)

Day 3 of our Challenge
Yesterday was a very busy day for this pregnant momma of a 19 month old. I kept the car and brought Malachi to work at 9am and then picked up a movie from Lifeway for Sofia and then headed over to the Maternity Store to buy a new shirt. I didn't actually walk back through the front door until 11:15am. Sofia had fallen asleep in her car seat by that time. I prayed that she would finish out her nap once I put her down on her little couch bed in the living room...no such luck! She perked right up and wanted to watch her new movie. I bought her a BOZ movie, and I must say it is just so cute. It is a Christian children's learning video that teaches them colors and shapes as well as incorporating lessons about the Lord. Very cool!
By this time I realized that I could download Malachi's W-2 from the Internet, and so I did. Then I called my mother and she walked me through the IRS website to download and print the forms to do our taxes. This will be the first year “we” will be preparing our own taxes. I then noticed I was running late for the Ladies Bible study at our church. I needed to be there AT 1pm, but actually didn't walk in the door until about 1:15pm. If any of you know me personally, you will know that I loath being late for anything. Now my mom on the other hand is almost always late. In fact she jokes about being late for her own funeral! I think I learned my love of being on time from my time spent serving in the Air Force. We were told that if we weren't at our appointed place at least 15 minutes early, then we were late! I still have that same mentality about being on time.
However, the Ladies Bible study was just what I needed. The Pastor and his daughter kept watch over my little Sofia and another little baby Sofia's age. We are studying through the book of 1 Peter. Yesterday was my first day actually attending the Bible study, so we were on Chapter 2 already. I love that Jesus is described as the “Chief Cornerstone”. Makes so much sense. We are to measure our lives off of Jesus. When we do this our “spiritual house” will be perfectly aligned and not crooked. I highly recommend reading 1 Peter 2: 4-12.
Now on to our 3rd day of encouraging and praying for our husbands! How is everyone doing so far? I have been so busy that my focus hasn't been what it should be. Today I pray the Lord will keep my focus and attention on HIM so that I can better pray for my husband and encourage and lift Him up through this month!

30-DAY HUSBAND ENCOURAGEMENT CHALLENGE
Day 3
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:19
Love indeed suffers long and is kind. As you consider your Encouragement Challenge, determine today that you will not say anything negative to or about your husband. Speak kindly to him with words of genuine encouragement.
If your husband is considerate of your needs, let him know that you have noticed. Thank him for his kindness and consideration. Thank the Lord that your husband knows how to be both tough and tender.
Sometimes it's difficult for a man to be gentle, kind or tender—especially if he hasn't had role models in these areas. If he's not a considerate person, appeal to him for help without complaining. Let him know that it's hard for you to handle some things alone. Then, when he moves in to help, don't insist that he do it your way. Be glad that he is responding, and express your gratitude.
Ultimately, you can't expect your husband to make you feel more secure, loved, etc.
Remember that only God can meet the deepest needs of your heart.
31 DAYS OF PRAYING FOR YOUR HUSBAND
Day 3
Pray that your husband will be humble and quick to agree with God about his sin. Pray that his heart will be tender toward the voice of the Lord. (Ps. 51:2-4; Micah 6:8)

Day 2
Good Morning Ladies,
Here is our Day 2 of the challenge to encourage and pray for our husbands for a whole month! So far I am off to a good start. I have gotten many responses to the challenge and enthusiasm to tackle this with me. So Great! Let us remember through this that the ultimate goal here is to please, honor and glorify the Lord in our marriage.
30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
Day Two:
" . . . through love serve one another." Gal. 5:13b
How did you do yesterday with your first day of blessing and encouraging your husband? Was it easy? Was it hard to hold your tongue when you wanted to say something negative? We hope you're off to a good start. (If you blew it, don't give up start again today!) There are so many practical things you can praise, if you look for them.
Today, find some way that your husband is serving you or your family. Does he help around the house? Take care of the car? Fix things that are broken? If your budget allows, give him a new, small tool with a big bow attached. But make sure he doesn't think it's part of a "Honey Do" list!
Maybe your husband's not a handyman, but does he run errands for you? Let you go first? Take care of you when you are sick? Help you make decisions? Praise him for his willingness to serve others. Let him know that you see his unique service as a great strength.
31 Days of Praying for Your Husband
Day 2
Pray that your husband’s relationship with God and His Word will bear fruit in his life. Pray that he will be a man of wisdom and understanding, fearing the Lord. (Prov. 3:7, 9:10; Ps. 112:1)

Challenge to Christian Wives
Good Morning Ladies,
I have decided to tackle a HUGE project...praying for my husband and encouraging him each day! This may not seem like such a HUGE project or task, but I can mostly certainly say it is.
As married "Christian" women, God must come first in our lives no matter what other things are pressing for our attention. After our relationship with the Lord, our husbands MUST take priority first. This can become difficult as we become distracted by new babies, sick babies, clingy children and other family and friends who are also trying to get and maintain our attention.
Through all of this distraction our relationship with our husbands, who came way before the children (in most cases) must be on top of our priority list. This may not be how the world would say our relationships should rank. However I am not on this earth to please the world nor to conform to the world. We are called to be separate from the world. Be in it, but not apart of it.
In order to maintain a solid relationship with anyone, we must cultivate the relationship. Our most important relationship being with the Lord and then after that our relationship with our husbands. Why is the relationship we have with our husbands SO important? The relationship of marriage between husband and wife is a symbol of the relationship Christ has with the Church. That is why it is SO important and sacred.
I would say that when a woman, yes even a "Christian" woman hears that they are to submit to their own husband, it will cause feelings of resentment and pride to well up. Why is this? It is do to the fall of man. We are told by God in Genesis that the woman will want to rule over her husband, but that the husband will actually rule over her. This isn't only because Eve disobeyed God, but because she was tricked by the enemy, showing that "she" is an easy target and easily manipulated. Hence the reason for headship or protection over her. We are to submit to our husbands as the Church submits to Christ's authority. Our husbands do not have supreme ultimate authority over us, but a God-given limited authority. Either way the authority they have is given to them by the Lord.
Our husbands on the other hand have HUGE shoes to fill in their part of the marriage. They are commanded to love their wives as Christ loves the Church! WOW! Now that is a biggie! They are to "agape" us as Christ "agapes" us. The "love" a husband is told to have for their wives is not merely this lovey dovey fuzzy feeling, but that of an action love, sacrificial love. I must note at this time, that the love we are to have for our husbands is the same love. Christ sacrificed Himself to prove what LOVE truly is. He did not think of Himself and He was not selfishly motivated to do anything for us. He saw that "we" had messed up in our blatant disobedience to His Law, and even knowing that some would never choose to reconcile with Him, He still chose to have Himself sacrificed on our behalf. GOD SACRIFICED HIMSELF ON OUR BEHALF! That is love!
So I challenge all you ladies who are married to tackle this challenge of encouraging and praying for our husbands for 31 days. A whole month consistently making the effort to encourage our husbands with the Word of God and praying for him as he walks through this evil world fighting and battling the temptations of this world.
As a stay-at-home mom I know all the tactics the enemy will use to get my husband to take his eyes off the Lord and onto something evil. I need to pray for my husband and his walk with the Lord. I also need to encourage him in what I say and do. Making the effort to change my attitude will force my heart's attitude to change as well. We are told in scripture that our hearts cannot be trusted as they are evil from youth. Yes, even as a born again Christian I still sin and fall short. However, I am being perfected by the Holy Spirit because of the work Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross.
There are days when my motivations are not pure or my attitude is less than loving towards my husband...even more so now that I am pregnant and my hormones are going nuts! This does not give me an excuse to be unkind or unloving towards my husband. It means that I have to take hold of those "feelings" instead of them taking hold of me.
I will include the links here in this post and also on the side bar of my blog. Each day I will post the new challenge, from both the prayer aspect and the encouragement aspect. I do pray that you will take this challenge seriously and prayerfully seek after the Lord through this as well.
30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
31 Days of Praying For Your Husband

30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
By Nancy Leigh DeMoss
We're so glad you've decided to accept the "30-Day Encouragement Challenge" to encourage your husband! Your decision means that you truly want to be a blessing in your home. This challenge will also result in spiritual growth in your own life.
We'd like to encourage you to keep track of what God does in your marriage over this next month. We hope you'll take time to share what God does in your home as you bless and encourage your spouse.
Day One:
"The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." Prov. 31:11-12
To refresh your memory . . . here's the 30-Day Encouragement Challenge: for the next 30 days:
You can't say anything negative about your husband . . . to your husband . . . or to anyone else, about your husband.
Say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband. . . to your husband . . . and to someone else, about your husband!
To help you get started, have you ever thanked your husband for "choosing you" above all other women? He found you attractive as a person, and appreciated you. Though many circumstances in your marriage may have changed, let your husband know that you are glad God led you together, and that you want to be a blessing to him for the rest of your marriage. Let him know that he can trust you to be in his corner.
One of the best opportunities to express your gratitude is first thing in the morning. How do you greet your husband each morning? Is he confident in your love? Give him a "wake up call" that he'll never forget-a big "I love you" and an "I'm so glad I'm your wife!"
31 Days of Praying for Your Husband
“She does him good . . .” (Proverbs 31:12a)
Bless your husband by praying for him! The Apostle Paul instructed all Christians to pray for one another (Ephesians 6:18). This includes wives’ responsibility and privilege to pray for their husbands. Earnest prayer for your husband is good for him, for you and the spiritual health of your home (Proverbs 31:11-12).
Satan desires to destroy your husband, especially his character and his leadership in your relationship. Trust God through prayer as you daily surrender your husband and marriage to the Lord’s wise, loving care.
Day 1
Pray that your husband will grow spiritually and consider his accountability before the Lord. Pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines—Bible reading and study, prayer, meditation, scripture memorization, etc. (2 Peter 3:18; Prov. 4:23)
