HOME SWEET HOME!

We made it back to Baton Rouge! Home Sweet Home!

We enjoyed our trip to the beautiful state of Washington. Our departure was bitter sweet. We wanted to be home so bad, yet we longed to stay in Washington. It is such a gorgeous state! We had a chance on Friday to do some exploring. We thought we were going to drive to Seattle and do the usual tourists stuff, but we opted to head north to see the Snoqualmie Falls. Friday was our last full day in Washington, and we are glad we just took it easy because Saturday was very eventful!

Friday night we didn’t make it to bed until about 1030pm. At around 1230am, Malachi woke up to the sound of the ceiling in our hotel room leaking. Being so tired, he just laid a few towels on the floor and got back in bed. At 230am, I woke up to a strange and annoying buzzing sound. Malachi got up to see what it was and apparently the smoke detectors in the hotel do not run on batteries but on electricity and the leak in the ceiling was right where the smoke detector was! So basically the smoke detector was short circuiting. Lovely huh? So we called the front desk and the guy disconnected the smoke detector. Thank the Lord there were no fires that broke loose!

Needless to say I didn’t get any sleep that night. I got out of bed from boredom at 4am and took a shower. Malachi woke up at around 430am and we headed on our way to the airport. We dropped the rental car off and were shuttled to the Seattle airport. Here comes the fun part!

We arrive at the airport and go to check in and find out that one of our bags is over the weight limit. We didn’t even know there was a weight limit on luggage! The contents of our luggage didn’t change from when we arrived, so this was news to us. Well we ended up having to pay a $50 fee for our bag being over 50lbs. This lady comes over to tag our bags and tells us the bag is over the weight limit and cannot go on the plane. We were a bit puzzled. Malachi asked the lady what he had just paid $50 for and she told him for it being over the weight limit. She then tells us that NOW our bag is over the “limit” limit. Make any sense to you? It sure didn’t to us. Basically the limit is 50lbs. If your bag is over that they charge you $50. If your bag is over 70lbs then it cannot go on the plane…our bag was 76lbs! So we had to open our bag weigh 6lbs and put it in our other bag which was jam packed. We finally got done with that and then had to go through the security stuff, where they told me I was not allowed to have my bottled water! But the guy said I could pour it out, and then fill it at the water fountain on the other side of the check point…ummmm…hello….why would I pour out perfectly good unopened water? So I threw it away! HA HA

We finally get on the plane and get to Houston. Evidently the airline didn’t schedule a pilot for our connecting flight! Imagine that, no pilot…hmmm, wonder who got chewed out for that mistake?

We finally made it home about 2 hours late and all three of us were so totally exhausted. We get to our lovely car, and notice all the power steering fluid had leaked out and our steering wheel wasn’t budging! Oh happy day! Fortunately we had power steering fluid in the trunk and that got us home. HOME SWEET HOME!

All in all, our trip was fantastic! The Lord really blessed us with the opportunity to take a mini-vacation. We enjoyed every second of our time in Washington and can’t wait to go back.

I will be blogging more now that I am home and have my bookmarks and other resources that I use to write.

Much has happened since we left. Looks like California wants to stomp out the right of parents to homeschool. I am seeing a growing need to address some Biblical issues with the role of a wife. So much to do.

Thanks to all who have been praying for us while we traveled.

Serving God and My Family,
Crystal
