"Be Fruitful and Multiply"

“Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, "The LORD be magnified!” Psalms 40:16

Today marks day three of taking the Clomid. I will take it for two more days for this cycle. I have experienced no side effects as of yet. So I rejoice in that! Over that past two days Malachi and I have been filled with much excitement about becoming pregnant again. We are even excited about the possibility of conceiving twins. It is not a high possibility as it is only a 7-10% chance based on what my doctor told me and studies I have been reading.

I find that in what ever new path the Lord leads us down there will always be those who “rain on our parade”. We stick with what scripture says about children and hope to have the same attitude as those depicted in scripture had about desiring children. If one child is a blessing how much more a blessing to have two, three, or even 17 children? What determines a blessing in your life? Is it popular opinion of a godless society? Is it your friends or family? What dictates my beliefs, convictions and blessings in my life are found through scripture. I seek no other source to determine what is or is not a blessing. I see more and more women who have this twisted thought that children are a burden. I have also heard it said that having children in this present time is selfish. The negative tags that people put on conceiving and bearing children today are lies from the pits of hell. There is no biblical basis for this position. As Christians our standard, our guide is the scriptures. We should not allow ourselves to fall for the lies of humanistic secularism.

In scripture married couples are commanded to “be fruitful and multiply” beginning with Adam and Eve. (Genesis 1:26-28) Some people would have you believe that this command is not merely speaking of “bearing children”, but is talking about wealth and prosperity. This again is another lie from the pits of hell. All scripture should be understood in context. When you read this verse in context to what God is saying, He is commanding Adam and Eve to “fill the earth”. (v.28) Was God commanding them to fill the earth with abundant wealth? It would make no sense in the context to speculate any other meaning than to fill the earth with people, which comes by giving birth to many children.

A woman's body was designed to conceive, carry and give birth to a new little life. Without this process we would surely perish! So the thought that a married couple desiring many children, or actually having many children as a selfish idea is simply unbiblical. Those who believe the lie that having many children or having children at all is selfish or a burden to their lives, really should take their complaint to the Lord. See if He gives a different answer than His Word clearly states. I would say that a desire to not have children in efforts to achieve a career, academic intelligence, or in order to “keep up with the Jone's” is highly selfish and most definitley against what the Bible teaches.

There are circumstances in which a child is conceived that may be sad or heartbreaking. Even still God has ordained that life and has a purpose for the life that is created in an unwanted circumstance. In John chapter 1 we are told that we are not born of the will of man, but of the will of the Lord. (John 1:13)

As Malachi and I embark on trying to conceive we are thrilled by the possibility of having many many many children! The Lord has been and will continue to be faithful in providing for our family. We can take comfort in this because we were told in Luke chapter 12 not to worry about these things.

Luke 12:22-40

“22 And He said to His disciples, "For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. 23 "For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds! 25 "And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life's span? 26 "If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? 27 "Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 28 "But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! 29 "And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. 30 "For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. 31 "But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. 32 "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. 33 "Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys. 34 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 35 "Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit. 36 "Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. 37 "Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them. 38 "Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves. 39 "But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 40 "You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect."” (NASB)

This passage of scripture puts everything back into perspective. If you have lost perspective about the purpose of this life dive into God's Word! There is so much more to life than serving ourselves. We are born with a sinful wicked nature. It is no surprise that we apart from Christ are utterly selfish. Once our eyes and our hearts have been opened to the Truth of God's plan and we submit to it, only then can we truly be content. As Christians we are to strive each day to live as biblically sound as we can. Sure we fall short and stumble, but it is by the Grace of God that we even have a desire to please Him.

So as the Lord continues to bless our family with more children we will rejoice and be glad! Those who are opposed to this lifestyle and claim to be Christians should take a closer look at God's Word and re-evaluate their position. Causing to raise opposition to married couples (one man and one woman) seeking to add to their “individual” family unit is seeking to undermine God. Be very cautious in this en devour as I believe that these people are in grave danger as they are in direct opposition or rebellion to God's inerrant, infallible Word.
