My Mom's Beef Stew

I made this for Christmas Supper and it was wonderful! This is the Beef Stew that my mother makes and we all love it! I prepared it in the slow-cooker and it as just amazingly good! My very picky eating 18 month old just dove right in and ate it all up! Hope that you all enjoy it this easy to make Beef Stew!

Mom’s BEEF STEW

2 lbs of cubed beef stew meat cut into smaller pieces

1/3 cup of flour

Small amount of oil to brown beef (just cover the bottom of the pot)

Salt and pepper to taste of the flour

4 RED potatoes cut into small cubes

3 carrots cut into small cubes

2 celery stalks cut into small cubes

1-15 oz can tomato sauce

1 package McCormick beef stew mix (I used the Walmart Brand)

Water as per package..maybe a little more, I sometimes add water as it cooks if it is needed

Cut-up beef stew meat into small pieces. Season flour with salt and pepper and flour the beef stew meat cubes. Brown floured beef stew cubes in a large pot in oil on medium heat. Add water as per package (maybe a little more) and tomato sauce. Cook on medium heat for 45 minutes. Add potatoes, carrots, and celery to meat mixture. Cook for about 1 hour or until vegetables tender. The longer you cook the stew the best it will be. Serve with rice.

NOTE: Can be cooked in crock-pot after beef is browned. Add all ingredients and cook for 3-4 hours on low.

ENJOY!
